Knowledge Diffusion

  • One of our most important goals is to increase the visibility of Physics Research at the LHC and experimental particle physics in Chile by better publicizing our achievements and activities, and most importantly, help bring science and technology to the forefront of intellectual and academic discussion.
  • The Center is going to communicate continuously with the local university community via an internal media that is published on a daily basis. These articles are released to a variety of national media (such as the newspaper El Mercurio, television programs, university and specialized sites, among others) thus obtaining the coverage we need to helps us engage new people, with different interests, and, at the same time, to show the progress achieved by the project, on a national and international level.

We are going to develop a program aimed at communicating our advances as well as promotion of fundamental and applied physical science to general public, in particular, to high school students and teachers. We have already experience with this kind of activities realizing regular activities:

One of our researchers being interviewed about LHC research during a national tv news program.

  • School meetings have been organized, as in the case of a school science and technology fair of Valparaiso, bringing together different groups of schools with their own research projects and guiding the development of the results. The activity was very successful, with the participation of about 75 students and teachers. We plan to continue and expand this in the future.
  • Talks given at universities and high schools in the region, either by direct contact, by invitation or by participation in EXPLORA (Conicyt) programs such as “Mil Científicos Mil Aulas”.
  • Press articles in local and national newspapers and in web media.
  • Invited talks to specific events such as conferences or ceremonies.
