First Laparoscopic probe in Chile!
Tuesday 5th, June 2017, a date that will be remembered in the Anillo 1406 project history. One day before, Francisco Martinez had gone to to show doctors of Clínica Universidad Católica in Santiago his finally completed inter-operative gamma probe.
Doctors were so pleased with the device that asked if they could test it in a real surgery, so they left the probe sterilizing for 10 hours and got the approval of the patient to use. Next day, and for the first time in Chile’s history, a successful radio-guided Laparoscopic surgery for endometrial Cancer was performed by Jorge Brañes, doctor of Clínica Universidad Católica (Santiago, Chile).
This achievement was possible due to the ideas of professor Serguei Kuleshov, with the collaboration and help of Francisco Martinez.
