7 day sTGC test complete for Module-0

  • The 7 day test for the module-0 has finished. The objective of this test was to see how does the sTGC responds to irradiation and different levels of high voltage.
  • For the x-ray scan, the x-ray generator is placed in a Kuka Robot arm that moves automatically covering every space of the sTGC. This test is performed while applying voltages of 2.5kv and 2.9kv. The objective of this test is to measure the gain uniformity.
  • After the x-ray scan is complete, the chambers are connected and a high-voltage of 3.3kv is applied for 7 days to see how the sTGC responds and to find out if there are any hotspots. The objective of this is to test the detector’s stability.
  • Both tests are performed with a mixture of n-pentane and CO2

In the video it is showed how the kuka robot moves . The results obtained by this test will be presented to the ATLAS collaboration members soon.
